Coventry Law Centre provides specialist services in immigration and human rights law. We specialise in advocacy and representation and before the First and Upper Tribunals of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber. Where necessary, we can take judicial review and other court proceedings. The West Midlands One Stop Service, based in Birmingham, helps asylum seekers and refugees in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent and Coventry. The West Midlands One Stop Service provides a wide range of advice and information to refugees and asylum seekers, covering issues such as: Advice on asylum issues & the UKBA support system; Assistance for clients at the end of the asylum process (regarding Section 4 and possible charitable support); Signposting to services such as housing, legal advice, education, training and health care; Clients who have recently been granted status requiring ‘move-on’ advice (signposting and referral only); Change of Circumstances; Domestic Violence; Mental Health; Giving talks to local statutory and voluntary groups on asylum issues; Advice for newly arrived destitute asylum seekers to access (IA) initial accommodation; Help for separated children under 18 years old.

Refugee Action provide support to asylum seekers and refugees at all stages of their application process and after. They provide a One Stop Service giving advice on access to asylum support, the asylum application process, welfare benefits, employment and housing. They also advise clients facing problems such as racial harassment, domestic violence and destitution. What they can help with: If you are an asylum seeker who has just arrived in the UK, they can offer advice on: Emergency accommodation if you are entitled to it; Applying for asylum support; Asylum Support Tribunal (AST) appeals; Referring you to a doctor. If you are an asylum seeker who is already receiving asylum support, they can offer advice on: Problems that may arise with your asylum support; Help with complaints about your accommodation; Local refugee/asylum seeker community organisations and support projects, or other organisations who can advise you; Referring you to a doctor; Appeal if your support is stopped by UKBA. What they can’t help with: Immigration advice for migrants. If you are considering returning voluntarily to your country of origin, Refugee Action offers a confidential information, advice and support service through their Choices project.
