The following sections contain information on the most important international treaties and agreements of which Angola is signatory, as well as national legislation relevant to the protection of refugees.

Angola adopted a Presidential Decree in 2018. With this decree, the Committee for Recognition of the Right of Asylum (COREDA) was disbanded and the National Council for Refugees was established. The National Council for Refugees is responsible for granting or refusing the right of asylum. A national refugee status determination (RSD) system has been established with UNHCR’s help.
