Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program (OKUP)
Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Program (OKUP) works to promote human rights based on the principles of substantive equality and non-discrimination. OKUP’s innovative projects include pre-departure information, post-arrival intervention and counselling for vulnerable migrants and refugees in cooperation with local organisations in destination countries. They also assist in return/repatriation and social reintegration through airport pick-ups, providing shelter, psychological counselling and legal and medical assistance. OKUP empowers migrants, refugees and their families/communities through unity, capacity building and leadership.
OKUP work with the returnees who have failed to get asylum or refugee status and have been deported. They are currently conducting research on migrants from the Sylhet region to the UK to understand the trend and realities for developing communication strategy for informed and safe migration and also find potential opportunities for economic reintegration.
